In line with updates the Hannoveraner Verband has made, as of mid-2025, qualifying stallions can now be directly entered into HHSA Hanoverian Stallion Book 1B without being inspected.
Stallions which have not yet been presented to the Hannoveraner Verband or HHSA for licensing, however, HAVE been licensed by another recognized breeding society and have been performance tested according to their age should qualify for the direct entry. This applies to stallions of the riding horse type of the following societies, as their performance test system is comparable to the system used in Germany: all German Warmblood societies, as well as BWP, DWP, KWPN, SWB, SF, ZANG. They must have six generations of licensed and performance tested sires in their pedigrees.
Hanoverian Book 1B Stallions’ foals are eligible for Hanoverian registration (from Hanoverian approved mares).
For entry into Stallion Book I, and to be accepted into the HHSA Online Stallion Directory, the stallion needs to be presented to the HHSA licensing commission. This can be done on the Annual Tour. A current veterinary examination and report are also required in advance of the presentation. Radiograph requirements should have already been met with previous licensing, and this will be checked by the HHSA.
The cost for applying for direct entry is $150. Applicant/Stallion Owner must also be a breeder member of the HHSA. If you would like more information and to apply see the form here.
